The Pink Elephant in the room

So a pink elephant is due to take residency in my room this summer...

I've always loved the saying  - The elephant in the room. A weird thing to love granted, but a very common problem with society.  

Dumbo was also a favourite childhood film of mine, and so this has influenced my desire to do this rather strange wall-art feature. This has links to the extended phrase: 'The pink elephant in the room'. The pink elephant being something a person sees when they hallucinate, due to alcohol or otherwise.

Due to the above and a very inspirational photograph I remember seeing when I was younger, of a silhouette of an elephant in front of a pink sunset, childhood nostalgia has created my project. 

Having this idea for years to have my own pink elephant in my bedroom, this summer my madness is going to be expressed on my chimney-breast wall.

Style Study

Day two of being awake at 5 am. This time I am being an (arguably over) supportive girlfriend and am at the library whilst my boyfriend prints and scans his final bits of work for his hand in 5 hours from now.

Whilst I sit here I casually look around at the two dozen or so students busy working away and I am surprised how they are dressed. The majority in skinny jeans and a t-shirt, I find myself shocked at the lack of comfy clothes I see: no tracksuit bottoms in sight!

I've heard  both from the individual and of many people who come here after a night out to work. Does this raise the style question: is fashion in general becoming more about the practical in today's modern society?
It does baffle me how an intoxicated student could produce decent work. But then I suppose art students work could result in being imaginative, wild and free. Will this evolve to be a new form of art or is it a spin off hippie/ psychedelic art?

Inspiration can come from anything

Not the best photograph in the world, but as I lay awake at 5am trying not to disturb my boyfriend it's the best I could do!

One positive of being awake at this time is that it allows you to take in your surroundings and let your creativity compensate for your denied dreams. 

This curtain to me could be a great mini skirt. Dyed with the darkest shade of red at the gather and descending into brighter tones. 

The embedded ceiling circle light further suggests a basic high waisted panel with four buttons. 

So there you go people - that's how my crazy designer brain works! 

25 Silver Smiles

I have been lucky enough to grow up in a household with two parents who love each other very much. 

25 years in today's society is an admirable amount of time to be together.

Two people who cannot bare a day without one another, who are totally at ease and happy in the other's company, who absolutely adore each other and tell their partner how much they love them everyday is incredibly beautiful and one can only hope to be lucky enoughhave such a thing themselves.

Happy Silver Wedding Anniversary Mum and Dad. You are an inspiration. Enjoy the celebrations. You deserve them and one another!

We have just had a lecture on how in today's society you have to go, either against the flow or the extra mile. 

Unless you have been living under a rock for the last week, (… or in the library, as I know many students have,) you will be aware of the most recent Facebook nomination - The #nomakeupselfie for Cancer awareness. Although a fabulous idea for a great cause and although it has raised a brilliant amount of money, as popularity rises interest soon descends. 

This girl has thought outside the box and definitely made an impact. Eve Robinson everyone: take a look and listen!

Fabulous First Video Fifty-Nine

Super busy with Uni work like every student this time of year this brilliant band stretched boundaries and  found time to create their first music video! 

Theory 59 is a band which originates from my home town and it has been fantastic to watch the guys grow!

Now set to support Kids in Glass Houses the boy's hard work is getting the appreciation it deserves!

Frankie's Fairyesque Photoshoot

Yesterday I had the pleasure of modelling for a friend, Frankie's fine art project. 

A fabulous photographer and aspiring stylist I felt very well looked after and whilst working we had great fun (, notice the lip in the second photo part way through laughing)!

Totally unaware of the style of the shoot when arriving to get ready, hair with  shower scrubbers in and a white glittery face did daunt me a little if I'm being honest ! 

But Frankie's marvelous make up artist Hannah achieved miracles!

Receiving these photos last night and the lovely complements the two gave me really really helped increase my confidence at a time in the year were people begin to get body conscious!
