New year, intro to New designer, from New York

For anyone at all interested in fashion I recommend you like the Vogue Facebook page. It has lots of fashion tips and amazing pictures of equally amazing garments. The post I saw today introduced me to the work of Carolina Herrera. The collection for spring/spring summer addresses, with fabulous attention to detail, white and pop art trends - to name a couple that will filter into the high street stores...once the sales are out the way!

Ok so as I designer I think the design process is very important too, but today labels play a massive part in purchases, and the more the promotion team appeal to their brand's clientele generally the more successful sale statistics!
Hard Rock- the name
Urban outfitters- all about the vintage effortless style
Topshop- arguably the best high street retail brander world world wide.. Try know their clientele , and they know what look their pushing each time! Take the snake paper bag.. Basically a piece of art - mono tone and on trend at the time (last year .. Yes i am sad enough to keep it ...) further promoted the shop. So if you thought packaging was put in the back burner you're wrong I'm afraid .. Promotion is thought about greatly in the fashion industry .. Even the way you walk round a shop!

Wedge Wood Wedges

These wonderful Roxie wedge wood wedges by the superb shoe designer Jeffrey Campbell are an online exclusive for Office. Consisting of a Wooden upper, leather lining and sock and rubber sole, the originality is not just in the look but also the materials. Another pair to add to my wish list ..although I'll have to make sure I don't stand too close to the fire with them on!

Fancy dress, fancy shoes

Last night I went to a Heroes Vs. Villains themed party. With any excuse to dress up especially, at this time of year there were some fantastic costumes. With this and the day of toys approaching in two days time, as part of DC Comics x Converse autumn/winter collection the Arkham City shoes seemed rather fitting when I came across them today.
