Interactive Art

As my friend and I exited the subway to attend MoMA's (The Museum of Modern Art,) free Friday afternoon we were horrified that the que was nearly all the way around the block... And we were early!

Luckily the que moved quick and we were soon in a busy building of fabulous art work.

Tactically starting at the too and working our way down the museum we saw some fabulous pieces from both the greats and the more modern. Architecture even had it's own exhibit!

Two of the most memorable modern art works were two interactive installations.

We had seen many smiling faces leave the first room and were very intrigued as to what was inside. On entering we were blinded by the glare of a screen of bright white light. Whether it was the brightness; or the fact you could play around making silhouettes with your body, you couldn't help but leave the room without an large grin.

Secondly we wondered through a walk way found in most acid gamer's dreams.
Not only was Mario projected in almost a tunnel like surrounding, but controls were given to random members of the public to play!

At what point art and technology began to cross I don't think can be pinpointed exactly. But it seems the combination can only continue to grow in the art world. I for one, despite loving the traditional methods of producing art, welcome this modern method intrigued and excited.

MoMa free Fridays run from 4-8pm. Be there early to avoid thenl ques!
