Milan and Paris Fashion weeks – together it will blow your mind!

They deserve to have separate posts but unfortunately time is not on my side. Regrettably I have not as yet had time to look at all the Milan shows yet, but the ones I have have been superb!
I think it would be more of a shock to the world if Gucci didn’t put on a spectacular and sophisticated show. A particular favourite of mine was the velvet green subtle leopard print maxi. Its rich material seems to drape the body beautifully and richly.

Dolce and Gabbana’s girls came out in force.

At first I wasn’t sure if I liked this traditional folk inspired style but the designers have crafted them in to beautiful delicate and effeminate garments. Some even had a hint of digitalism. My favourite has to be the floral nude bodice which I can imagine would make any girl feel like a beautiful ballerina.

Speaking of ballerinas Christian Dior was highly elemental with their style in the collection too. The sheer netting of the skirts, (which I personally love because of just how feminine you feel in the sort!)and the lovely silk and cashmere tops add to this tantalising style.

The Lavin Show was far more powerful in terms of the type of persona the garmented models eluded. Some of the shapes and style can be detected in the shapes for spring summer already so if you like to be ahead look at these wave shaped hems and also the western ranch styles. Despite these subtle repeats being detected it doesn’t mean the garments themselves weren’t original and exciting; Lavin brought in a vintage-romantic power to them. Leathers, rich dark tones and sharp edges all supported this. I am in love with the large jewels which hung round several of the girl’s necks. In an odd way it reminded me of the sophistication of women like those on the titanic.

Miu miu- each time I look over this collections piece I get excited all over again. The love I think is mainly for the beautiful combinations of materials and prints layered into the suits in the show. The colours, the cuts, everything about the suits just give off this vintage quirky façade which I admire so much!
Prada, I am not afraid to admit I have gained a new found admiration for this house this season. I think it is particularly impressive how they manage the sleek sophistication of the garments, yet have an element of riches and originality in there. The colour schemes worked very well here. I was surprised and impressed with the space style striped dress which has aided/ been inspirational for me with my current fashion project at college; with the contrast of metallic and transparency.

This post could not have been published without mentioning Vivienne Westwood, the show was yet again that of creativity which I personally love! Bike were ridden to add that extra extravagance but it wasn’t necessarily needed the pieces grabbed the attention! She got the britishness which is adored at the minute because of the Olympics, in in her own quirky way. It maybe quirky but it doesn’t mean craftsmanship is sacrificed in her shows. The bodice of the garment below…not to mention the shows are to be particularly in awe of!
