Silhouettes Stimulate Ideas

This shadow produced from the sun's raise onto the windowsill sparked several design ideas I wish to pursue. I also could produce different images using shadows as further research.

Adult or-chid

Adult or Child you must find these flowers fascinating! Before wearing an Orchid in my hair to prom I was not the biggest fan of these flowers due to their shape. However now I find both that and the different colour ways inspirational. They're unusual patterns are also a great source for  fashion  design ideas!

The Overall Experience

On Tuesday night I finally received my Christmas present and went to watch the Kings of Leon with my boyfriend and his lovely friend.

One of my favourite bands of all time both for their music and live performance skills I knew it was going to be great.
But the special effects blew me away and add to the superb show making it mesmerising.

My favourite moment was when we were told to put out phone lights on and foam like snow skittered over the arena. As cliche as it sounds, the atmosphere was so magical. Unfortunately I was too busy gawking in amazement to film this.
However here is a clip of some of the amazing visuals to accompany the legendary Kings of Leon:

I would definitely recommend to see this band live! Check out their tour dates and any updates: http://tour.kingsofleon.com

Special thank you to my boyfriend for treating me to this experience, I had the best of times.

Creative community

As much as artist's have their own ideas and want to be recognised as an individual it is important in any creative industry that everyone works as a team.

In the center of Keelby village a symbol of a happy community is portrayed in the art work by local Primary School children.

A Suitcase, a Flower and Clovers

Some people feel that the givers of a homemade card are being cheapskates.
However I personally prefer to send hand crafted greetings as I find it more personal and meaningful.

The accusations are not necessarily true either: craft items can often prove to be very expensive!

You do not have to be and artist to create your own cards. Sometimes the more simple the design the more effective it is!

After all it's the thought that counts. I hope the receivers of my cards like them!

Bathing in Inspitation

As I've said countless times before- inspiration can come from anywhere and everywhere.
Just sunbathing in the garden today the flowers that surrounded me helped me begin to think of children's clothing designs.

Florals are very prominent particularly on female fashion, from babies to the older woman.

As a designer it is important to practice how to translate them into designs from details to print.

Hopefully you can detect from these initial sketches the flowers that inspired them!

How to wear your heart

Intovintage.co.uk posted this beautiful and thought provoking image earlier.
A map to a woman's heart.

I will admit we are complicated beings, often very difficult to read. Men are understandably often confused by this complexity and so this map could also be an extreamly useful help guide for them.

This would be great as a print on a t-shirt or tote bag ... And would spread the message!

Canine Editing

I've recently had the pleasure of getting to know Teresa Ranson.
As well as being an all round lovely lady. She is a great artist. Previously pottering in pottery, and now producing beautiful prints.

[Cow Parsley print by Teresa Ranson]

What I most admire about Teresa is that she is not afraid to experiment, as all proper artists should do. She is extremely creative with her techniques, and I can honestly say each individual practise print is stunning in its own right. What also is remarkable is how different each print is from others of the same batch.

Visit this Artist's Facebook page to view her splendid work: https://www.facebook.com/teresaransonartist

Its also worth a visit the page to meet Teresa's dog Ruby. Perhaps the happiest, most playful and funny dog I've ever met: she's sure to keep you entertained!

Fun Imperfections

Today I finished my 'Pink Elephant in the Room' wall piece.

Taking time to do each individual layer and let it dry isn't usually my thing. But this allowed me to do things such as go for a run and clear my head ready for the next stage.

For such a large painting I didn't spend that much time really in consuming processes such as detail.
This means there are some imperfections such as the super white tusks and skinny end of the trunk.
However it's been a rather pleasant and preductive day painting away with music playing. So despite the imperfections I'm rather happy with the result.

Wall Lined

Several practices later Mavis the Elephant's outline is pencilled onto my wall.

Pink paint purchased and ready to be applied! Watch this space!

Collection #2 Launch

This beautiful sunny summers day Stella + Alf launched their Collection #2 today at Paris clothing store.

Lower in price range but also limited edition this is a for me as a student a dream come true!

Exceptionally welcoming you knew this collection was designed, produced and retailed with love.

Also an avid fan of print the skirt automatically called to me.
Hoarding for holiday I had told myself window shop only. But a perfect piece of clothing designed by Paris, sold in Paris clothing was surely meant for me for Paris!
Safe to say the gorgeous garment is now purchased!

I highly recommend a look at S+A's new collection, either online or through their retailers! Be prepared to make a purchase there's something for everyone whatever style, shape or size! (Sizes available are S,M and L. )

I'm very please with my vibrant marvelous purchase and can't wait to wear it away!

Having a Giraffe

Never going anywhere like this before in my life, I didn't know what to expect...
Was it going to be some glorified petting farm?
This was a rare sunny day and we made the most of it.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park was our destination.

It was absolutely amazing. The staff and owners clearly care for the animals as well!

A day full of laughs that also proved to be incredibly interesting.
I'll definitely be using this place as inspiration for future design projects!

Here are some snaps of the cheeky residents:

A Polar bear area is due to open this year as well!
I'd definitely recommend a visit!
