New year, intro to New designer, from New York

For anyone at all interested in fashion I recommend you like the Vogue Facebook page. It has lots of fashion tips and amazing pictures of equally amazing garments. The post I saw today introduced me to the work of Carolina Herrera. The collection for spring/spring summer addresses, with fabulous attention to detail, white and pop art trends - to name a couple that will filter into the high street stores...once the sales are out the way!

Ssssssss'all about the branding

Ok so as I designer I think the design process is very important too, but today labels play a massive part in purchases, and the more the promotion team appeal to their brand's clientele generally the more successful sale statistics!
Hard Rock- the name
Urban outfitters- all about the vintage effortless style
Topshop- arguably the best high street retail brander world world wide.. Try know their clientele , and they know what look their pushing each time! Take the snake paper bag.. Basically a piece of art - mono tone and on trend at the time (last year .. Yes i am sad enough to keep it ...) further promoted the shop. So if you thought packaging was put in the back burner you're wrong I'm afraid .. Promotion is thought about greatly in the fashion industry .. Even the way you walk round a shop!

Wedge Wood Wedges

These wonderful Roxie wedge wood wedges by the superb shoe designer Jeffrey Campbell are an online exclusive for Office. Consisting of a Wooden upper, leather lining and sock and rubber sole, the originality is not just in the look but also the materials. Another pair to add to my wish list ..although I'll have to make sure I don't stand too close to the fire with them on!

A little bit of christmas to carry around

Last night I went to a Heroes Vs. Villains themed party. With any excuse to dress up especially, at this time of year there were some fantastic costumes. With this and the day of toys approaching in two days time, as part of DC Comics x Converse autumn/winter collection the Arkham City shoes seemed rather fitting when I came across them today.

Louboutin's christmas present to fashion

From Christian Louboutin's 2009/10 Autumn/ Winter collection the term 'gift bag' is displayed in its most literal sense. A golden glorious gift  that I would certainly love to find under my tree!

Wellies seem to be a world wide fashion craze even when its not raining (,which isn't very often in Britain,) this season.
Along with the British heritage trend I think Hunters have had a great influence on this. From the original classics; to pearlised; to fur trimmed
in the freezing weather, there's something for every wellington wearer this winter!

Will fashion light up your life?

With technological advances being showcased on a large scale such as the 2012 Olympics, fashion has adopted these developments. The twitter dress recently worn by Nicole Scherzinger is a prime example of this. Designers Francesca Rosella and Ryan Genz are two which have used LEDs as the garment material already. So by next year we may have outfits to match out Christmas decorations !

Would you pose in purple people?

With purple one of the more
peculiar colours from this season pallet. It was interesting how the designers made this work for men. As beautiful as it is I do wonder what kind of male would wear this exquisite coat by Raf Simons and when.

Worth it in WInter?

This shot by Annie Leibovitz's for vogue 2010 makes me shiver at the sight. But for fashion I would freeze!

Art and fashion combined- exciting collaboration coming up!!!

Fashion is always influenced by the world around it, and so art is often used as inspiration. In some cases it is more
obvious than others. Artists and fashion designers occasionally collaborate to produce a garment that works as a beautiful canvas. I am currently in the process of brainstorming an exciting project collaborating with Opal Desires. Watch out for the result!

The Newcastle look

I had the pleasure of going to Newcastle last weekend with my friend. The architecture is beautiful and the shopping great!
It is stereotyped that all of the population of this busy city are the same as the current tv show based there...which is debatable. What is certain though WHEREVER you go there is an individual style of that place. Oh and Newcastle certainly knows how to have fun !
